I feel like I am about to prepare for war, I knew it was coming and while I must admit I’m looking forward to today on the flip side I am also loathing it as well. Today No Doubt are doing a rare outside concert promoting their current tour. I have loved No Doubt and Gwen forever and so today was a necessity. I am preparing for intense crowds and intense fans, and a hot sweaty day. And no, that’s not as exciting as it sounds!
12:30 p.m. – Well here I am, I just arrived. The taping tonight begins at 10:00 p.m. yes you read that right, 10:00 p.m. and I am here at
12:30 p.m. Do the words long day mean anything? LOL…
12:45 p.m. – I thought I would be one of the first people here, but there are about 7 others that arrived earlier. A couple arrived around 7:00 a.m. and I thought I was hard core…
1:32 p.m. – I brought a No Doubt concert poster, a Gwen solo poster, a Return of Saturn limited Vinyl, and the LoveAngelMusicBaby rare picture disc to get signed. Sigh… My friend Frank just got here, well I found out he was here around 11:00 a.m. but was walking around. He gave me half his sandwich! Wasn’t that nice?
2:00 p.m. – It is a hot day, thank Jesus, there is a nice breeze! Lol... Sigh… to spend all day here I must really want Gwen and the boys.
2:24 p.m. – One of the security guards just told us that they are supposed to arrive around 6:30 to sound check. God, it would be so nice if they come over then. After the concert will be insane and brimming over with fans.
2:45 p.m. – We are all having an intellectual discussion about the timeline of the new Star Trek film. This is what people talk about while standing in line in an ally. LOL…
3:35 p.m. – No Doubt are the only guests for the day, except for this other band I have not heard of. They just arrived and a couple people got pics with them. Again, I have no idea who they are.
4:12 p.m. – Surprisingly, today is going by pretty fast. So, that’s cool. I have not eaten anything but that half a sandwich I had this morning though. There are about 20-25 people here now…
4:39 p.m. – Well, I think I should pee just in case the barricades go up and I can’t leave my place. I’m heading over to the Disney store.
4:43 p.m. – They are filming a promo or a commercial here. Huh…
4:44 p.m. – I just walked into the bathroom, well tried to walk into the bathroom. It is an individual bathroom and some guy was taking a poo and didn’t lock the door. Sigh… My next article is going to be all about the importance of door locks when pooing in public!
4:57 p.m. – I’m back in line. Nothing major has happened. But everyone is in a constant state of preparation for the barricades to go up.
5:22 p.m. – Dude, Scotty just arrived! I didn’t know he was coming! It’s good to see him!
5:31 p.m. –Scotty brought his V Magazine and a cd cover to get signed. I have to say his V Magazine has a kick ass pic of Gwen on the cover.
5:43 p.m. – The barricades are going up. I got a great place in the front towards the side. Now I only hope I can get them going in…
6:22 p.m. – Now we were told that they are not expected until around 8:00 p.m. Ugh…
6:34 p.m. – They are now moving the barricade because a car needs to come through. Sigh…
6:40 p.m. – Now we’re moving back in place.
6:45 p.m. – We are being shoved in here really tight!
6:55 p.m. – I can barely move! Ugh… These togetherness moments can really suck. At least I’m standing next to Scotty, lol…
7:22 p.m. – They are moving the barricade yet again! Sigh… It’s like they are simply toying with our emotions.
7:35 p.m. – Now we’re back and even more squished, and my spot is much smaller… ugh…
7:49 p.m. – A car just pulled up… It’s Tom and Adrian! Tom just goes inside and Adrian only signs a couple by the fence. Great…
8:15 p.m. – Holy Shit a car is pulling up. Dude, it’s Gwen. She is holding her son in her hand, and waved and walked inside. So much for getting the band at sound check!
8:34 p.m. – Dude, Adrian just came out and over to the crowd to sign. So cool. He is quite social and signed for everyone at the fence and at the barricades as well. Tom followed him out. I got both of them as well as one of the backup singers on my album. Scotty got both of them on his Spin magazine (which I didn’t know he had) and on his cd cover.
8:44 p.m. – A car just pulled up, and Tony got out. He is coming over and signing for the crowd. He seems like a really cool guy. I got him on my vinyl and Scotty got him as well. Now all we need is Gwen! Ugh…
9:01 p.m. – The band ran out to the stage waving at the crowd. Apparently, they really are starting at 10:00 p.m. which really sucks. I am starving! Sigh…
9:15 p.m. – The band is playing "It’s My Life"… I love this song, but it’s not my fav from them…
9:22 p.m. – It’s getting cold, and my feet really hurt. I am so hungry and tired. I am chewing on some Sour Patch Kids, but I’m afraid to drink my Coke Zero cause then I might have to pee… ;(
9:32 p.m. – They are just now letting in the crowd for the concert… The band darted off stage and back inside... sigh... no Gwen…
10:00 p.m. – The show just started… sigh… This means that if Gwen comes over at all it will be crazy with everyone from the concert running over after. I’m preparing to get smooshed… is that a real word? Smooshed?
10:22 p.m. – They (I think) are on their last song. They just did "Sunday Morning," which I love!
10:31 p.m. – The show is over and people en masse are joining in the fray… Dear God there are hundreds of people here now…
10:46 p.m. – Still no sign on Gwen… I just ate the crumbs out of a bag of plain potato chips and they tasted so good. I hate plain potato chips mind you, but these chips… were better than steak, steak covered with Blue Cheese and sautéed mushrooms… better than joy! These chips were better than joy!!!!!!
10:52 p.m. – Oh shit, Gwen just came out… she handed her son over to her assistant and is coming over to sign for everyone. She is so sweet, and is really trying to take her time with everyone. People are going crazy!
10:57 p.m. – She is coming over towards me, She’s saying something to me but Lord, there is so much screaming I can’t hear anything. I got her on my Picture disc and on my No Doubt Vinyl as well. Scotty just got her on his magazine, and he had it personalized it as well. I have to say, she was so sweet in person, and Gwen is one of those celebrities I am so happy is cool to her fans. This was a long long day, but in the end it was worth it!
