Hundreds of fans attended the Hollywood Collectors and Celebrities Show on Saturday to buy sign autographs and meet their favorite movie and TV stars.
Fans stood in long lines inside the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel and Convention Center to get their photos taken with celebrities such as Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher, Joan Collins; Paul Reubens, Malcolm McDowell and Tony Curtis.
The star-packed show drew fans Saturday and Sunday from cities throughout Southern California.
Seal Beach resident Amy Norris, who runs a Grease 2 movie fan club website, has attended the show for several years and plans on going to more shows in the future.
“I really enjoy coming,” she said. “I totally get excited. I think it will never get old.”
But her friend, Brandon Clark, was hesitant about going to the show.
“I thought it was pretty much going to be a geek parade,” he said. “But it’s not. It’s fun.”
The show was the second of its kind that actor Bruce Davidson, who starred in the action film “X-Men,” had participated in.
“It’s great to get face time with the people that actually watch your movies,” he said.
Davidson, who was a theater actor for many years, was able to connect with fans immediately after a theater performance. But since he began doing films, it has been more challenging to meet fans, he said.
With the recession underway and more people watching how they spend their money, Davidson said he was humbled because fans still attended the event, which cost $20 for admission, to try to connect with their favorite actors.
Some fans gave Davidson one-of-a-kind photographs of himself in exchange for an autograph or the opportunity to get their photo snapped with him.
Los Angeles resident Hugo Gona attended the show to meet Erik Estrada, who is his favorite actor.
Gona watched Estrada in the TV show “CHIPS” as a child and has collected action figures and other memorabilia of the actor as an adult.
He wore a T-shirt with a photograph of Estrada and took a photo with him on a police motorcycle.
“It’s exciting just to be here,” Gona said.
Thousand Oaks resident Cheryl Ritzman, her husband, daughter and granddaughter went to the show Saturday to stroll through the aisle of tables, where celebrities sat and signed autographs, and to get a glimpse of movie stars.
“We walked around and got to see many of the celebrities just hanging out,” she said.
