Renault Drivers Fail to Show for Autograph Session

Fernando Alonso was summoned by the Valencia stewards on Friday after failing to turn up for a mandatory autograph session ahead of his home race.

A document released by the FIA officials confirmed that both Alonso and his new Renault teammate Romain Grosjean "failed to attend the autograph session" despite receiving notice about the event "on 31st of July 2009".

"The stewards remind the competitor (Renault) and the drivers concerned of the obligation to comply with article 35.2 of the 2009 F1 sporting regulations," the report read.

However, after meeting with Renault officials and the drivers, the stewards "decided that, exceptionally, the incident requires no further action", the report added.

Also on Friday, championship leader Jenson Button was fined 2600 euros for breaking the 60kph pitlane speed limit in the morning practice session by 12.7kph.
